Captain John Smith Retreat (The Captain’s Retreat) was inspired by its sister cabin the Pocahontas Cabin. As you walk into The Captain’s Retreat, you will admire the craftsmanship of the cabin and how it was positioned at just the right angle to gaze into the forest from the living room, the upper loft, or the elevated deck. The Captain’s Retreat features two bedrooms and one bathroom, full kitchen, hardwood floors, naturally finished pine wall and vaulted ceiling.

The open living room/kitchen area features gable windows and a glass front door out to the deck, letting in warm natural light and providing a view of the surrounding forest. The kitchen is open and has plenty of counter space and top of line appliances. The living room offers the most comfortable furniture in town facing a rock fireplace and mantel flat screen TV. Two bedrooms on the first floor share a luxurious bathroom that features a custom rock and tile glass front shower with double rain shower heads. The upstairs is a large open loft with a Queen bed and full bath offering a Jacuzzi tub as well as a rock and tile shower. There’s also a pool table in the loft for plenty of family fun.

Outside you’ll find an awesome view of the forest and an impressive 3/4 wrap around deck. There’s plenty of patio furniture as well as a gas grill area for cooking that perfect burger. Venture down to the ground level and you’ll find a fire ring with seating. Enjoy the perfect end to a day of adventuring while toasting marshmallows and telling Bigfoot stories!

The Captain’s Retreat has the best of both settings: A semi private getaway or a perfect retreat for a small group. The Captain’s Retreat and Pocahontas Cabins are pleasantly separated by a small covering of forest. The cabins are a well suited match for a small family reunion needing 2 cabins in close walking distance to each other. The Captain’s Retreat can sleep up to 8 people. Pocahontas can sleep up to 8. Both cabins together can accommodate 16 people.

The Captain’s Retreat is a two-story cabin, built in 2015 and features 1450 sq. ft of charm. The Retreat features a large 3/4 wrap around deck and the side deck is elevated looking off into the National Forest and features an outdoor covered kitchen area with sink and gas grill.
